updated oatmeal recipe

Hello friends, how are you doing?

A couple of months ago, back in 2019 (sic!) I wrote a post featuring a simple recipe for an ’autumn’ porridge - but since fall days are long gone and only recently have I finally stumbled upon the truly perfect method to prepare my oats, I figured - why not make an updated version of the previous post and share it on the blog? Porridge is seriously such a simple breakfast yet it never fails to make me excited to actually get up in the morning and enjoy the warm meal alongside my coffee everyday. I just adore genuine rituals like this, they honestly fill my heart with the purest joy.  :)

The recipe I’m now using pretty much everyday now is @julieborawska oatmeal (you can find it in her ig highlights!), and I just couldn’t help but recreate it. I thought I’d put a little disclaimer just to make sure you know where it originally comes from! 
Here are the ingredients:
(for a rather big portion)
1/2 cup of oats
1/2 cup of plant-based milk + some extra to splash
1/2 cup of water
toppings - seeds, nut butter, fruit, superfoods, spices
sweetener of choice (optional)

Method:
Mix oats, plant-based milk and water in a pan (at this point I also add cinnamon) and cook on low heat - this is SUPER important, otherwise your oatmeal may not be as creamy! Stir the mixture every now and then to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan (don’t overdo it) and once all the ingredients have the desirable texture, transfer the oatmeal to a bowl.

Now onto my favourite part which is picking toppings 🤍 I am the biggest sucker for almond butter so it's a must-have, then I usually go for banana and something extra like seeds/dried fruit. The last step to finish the whole thing of is a splash of plant milk on top. And there you have it!

    When it comes to my favourite recipe, it’s a combination of peanut butter + dark chocolate or cocoa powder + banana or strawberries! It’s delicious! ��
